Great Expectations
Looking at a very simplified picture of human history, it struck me recently that humans have always wanted to get what they want and get it sooner. For millennia this was pretty much only possible for monarchs and the powerful few.
Some 100’s of years ago improvement of global conditions gradually started making it conceivable that an average Josephine could strike it rich and get that power. Sooner, too.
Like gold rushes among other speedy schemes.
Since then the expectation of turnaround time for gratification has changed as fast as industry has, and these days “instant” gratification has unprecedented meaning. Even folks who don’t take quantum science seriously seem to expect gratification to be theirs with an immediacy that can only happen outside the space/time continuum.
(Since I do take quantum science seriously, I wonder if I might be able to be gratified before the expectation even occurs to me…)
Hmmm.
Anyway, not to rain on parades but as to genuine betterment of our lot in life, my experience indicates expectations tend to be met after an investment of time and energy. Fortunately it seems like it’s brain time and brain energy that get the most reliable long-term results, so we all have a shot at getting a return on our investment.
Time and energy spent on the body/mind field has
excellent prospects, so I’m looking into
a simpler way for folks to invest in that.
I’ll keep you posted.
