About Me

My name is David Rowland.
I’m a Guild Certified Feldenkrais PractitionerCM and Tomatis PractitionerCM,
and I’ve been helping folks with the ways they move (and don’t move)
for more than 40 years.
I got into this line of work after I left my career as an oboist,
a decision made in large part due to the amount of pain I was in.
Pain changed my sound, hindered my technique, and
gnawed away at the joy of performing.
Over time I discovered a process of working with movement and
mindfulness together, which takes advantage of brain plasticity
and has me moving more freely now than I did in my thirties.
In my individual sessions I share this process of self discovery
with folks who have mobility and pain problems
as well as folks who want to understand their body more intimately.
I also work with horses and their humans.
Just as my work with humans is about helping an individual become
more at ease in their body and with themself, improving quality of life,
horses are addressed with the same intention and respect
so they also find ways to be more at ease within themselves.
As horse and rider learn more about themselves,
I work with them together in partnership,
helping them understand how to interact and communicate cooperatively
so their rides become an activity of exploration and discovery.
Join me to explore how learning about your body changes your life.
